2015 Mission Trip Destination: Virginia
About the Trip: (from Teameffort.org) Along the Virginia coast there are many beautiful beaches and coastal towns, but you don't have to look too far inland to find communities that are struggling. In these areas the homes of many elderly people and families on fixed incomes sit in disrepair. This summer youth groups will provide help to get their homes repaired and maintained, and offer hope by reaching out in Christian service. Work will include general home repair, painting, and deck and wheelchair construction.
Mission Completed!!!This year's mission trip was certainly a special one. We had 11 youth members, most were on their first mission trip. Our work was in Virginia, for an elderly couple. The husband recently suffered a stroke and now has limited mobility. We spent 4 days building a deck, painting their porches, and leveling their back yard.
The youth group worked extremely hard this week, depite being tired and battling the heat. It was amazing to see the amount of work we completed when we done. The couple were certainly grateful. During our free time, we enjoyed a trip to Six Flags, camping, trips to Rita's, and a tour of our nation's capital building (thanks to Sen. Gene Shaheen). Overall, this trip exceeded all expectations. The work, group bonding, and the countless laughs have made this trip one to remember. A special thanks to our wonderful leaders who accompanied our youth on the trip.. Rick, Judy, Joe and Scott. Pictures From our week
